Dear CYSC Families,

Welcome to another season! This spring we have over 1700 players in our program. CYSC is the largest recreational soccer program in Georgia and it would not be possible without the support of all our parent volunteers. For all our new and returning families, please read below for updates and information. We look forward to another great season!

Fields: Over the winter the club invested heavily in planting rye grass. The fields are in excellent condition to start the season. Coaches, please help us be good stewards of the field. With over 125 teams practicing and playing three times a week, the fields can get torn up quickly. Try to stay off areas that are showing signs of overuse during practice and help us maintain our surfaces. Last fall we had issues with our lights and sprinklers. We are happy to say that the city has invested a lot of time and resources to get both issues fixed and the club is starting the season with the facility in great shape.

Parent Expectations: Just a reminder about some key things to remember as we start the season. During games, please refrain from berating the officials. Most importantly, NEVER say anything out loud that would not be described as supportive to any of our players.

Rules: The one rule that the Board would like to emphasize is that ALL players MUST play half of each half. If a team rule has been violated and the coach plans on not playing a player the minimum amount of time, they MUST discuss the situation with our General Manager David Miles before the game. Parents, every minute that a player is late to a game, counts as a minute of their required playing time.  Rules about mandatory playing time will be strictly enforced.

End of Season Tournament: CYSC will NOT have an end of season tournament conducted during a single weekend this Spring. Due to a condensed schedule the club does not have a suitable date to complete the playoffs in a single weekend. Playoffs this season will be over several evenings starting April 29.

Spring Break: CYSC will not host any games on March 30 or April 6. This is a major change from previous seasons where we would schedule games the first weekend of Spring Break. This one-time change was done in response to many of our families asking for both weekends off because of Easter falling on the first weekend. The trade off is their will be many more weeknight games this season which will affect practice time. Often, Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays will have games scheduled. Coaches consider planning practices on Wednesdays and Fridays which will have much more availability this season.

SPLOST: Our complex is slated for major renovations in the next few years as a result of the SPLOST. The city is finalizing what those renovations will be and the Board looks forward to sharing the final vision and timeline for the update to the facility soon.  (Yes, bathrooms are very high on the list of priorities 😉)

Social Media: Please send any pictures of CYSC action to Brian Hale cyscpictures@gmail.com . Pictures may be posted on our website, Facebook and Instagram.

Rangers: Rangers are the CYSC All-Star teams. Rangers have an additional training session once a week and play friendly games and tournaments against select teams. CYSC currently has over 120 players on 10 teams. If your child is interested in being evaluated for Rangers, please contact David Miles. The Ranger program is in the process of purchasing new uniforms and are looking for a uniform sponsor. Business logo of the sponsor would go on the team shirts for a two-year cycle. Please contact David or myself if interested.

Board Minutes and Financial Statements: Club Members may review monthly Board Minutes and financial statements. These documents are available in the office. Please send David or Jackie an email ahead of time so they can have everything prepared. Board meetings are normally scheduled for the 4th Wednesday of the Month.

On Behalf of the CYSC Board,
